About Us

Petersen Motors was founded in 1954 by Henry Petersen in Anchor, IL. In 1969, sons Wayne and Dean purchased Clauden Motor Mart, a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in Fairbury. In 1975, Wayne purchased Fairbury Auto, the Chevrolet-Buick franchise in Fairbury from Spud Schlipf. In 1979, Wayne built a new building on Route 24 in Fairbury and moved both franchises there. This is the current location of Petersen Chevrolet today. 

Now owned and operated by Wayne's son, Mike Petersen, and his wife Kimberly, the dealership continues to provides new and preowned vehicle sales, service and parts, and has a car wash and detailing center. Their children Erin and Eli have joined them as the 4th generation to work in the dealership and hope to continue the legacy their family began more than 50 years ago. 

Just as important as the family that has their name on the building is the staff that they employ. With 14 employees that have over 120 years of combined experience working at Petersen Chevrolet, the service, parts, & sales teams come with the knowledge and small town friendliness that our customers can count on.
